CRM 2011 Embed Entity into Form

CRM2011 has a new feature that allows users to embed an entity into a form. Authorized users can view, create and modify records directly. All records associated to a form will be displayed in the Sub-Grid. The example below will show you how to embed the new Seminar entity created in Example 8 (Click here to go back to example).

STEP 1
Open the Form where you wish to embed the entity (we will use the campaign entity for our example).
Go to Select Settings => Customiztions => Customize the sytem => Entities => Campaign => Foms Type => Main

STEP 2
Once the form in opened click on the Insert tab.

STEP 3
Click on the Sub-Grid icon.

STEP 4
The Sub-Grid Properties windows will display information for you to complete. You will need to speficy the following:

Enter the Name
     - Enter a Name and the Label
Data Source
     - Select Record type parameter (Records => "Only Related Records" or "All Record Type" )
     - Select the Entity (this selects the primary Entity, we will use the "Seminars" Entity)
     - Select the default view
Additional Options
     - Display Search Box
     - Display Index
     - Display View Selection
Chart Options
     - Show Chart Only
     - Display Chart Selection

Click on the "Save and Close" icon when you finish.

STEP 5
Publish the customization.

STEP 6
Opening the Campaing record will show the embedded "Seminar" entity and all the associated records in the form.

STEP 7
In contrast opening the "Seminars" form will show the campaing it belongs to.
